Functional approval

Approve the band by position, shrink and opening behaviour.

A neck band can look acceptable while being too loose, too difficult to open or positioned incorrectly for the closure. A controlled trial should measure the unshrunk band, record its applied position, shrink it using the intended tunnel process, allow it to cool and then test the agreed opening action across representative packs.

Questions about tamper-evident band applicators

Is a tamper-evident band the same as tamper-proof packaging?

No. A tamper-evident band is intended to provide visible evidence that the closure area has been opened or disturbed. Final suitability, claims and any regulatory obligations remain application-specific and should be assessed by the product owner.

Should the perforation be tested after cooling?

Yes. Film grip and opening behaviour can change as the pack cools and stabilises. Test representative finished packs after normal cooling and handling, not only immediately at the tunnel exit.

Can one band fit several closure sizes?

Only when the lay-flat, cut length, closure geometry, application position and shrink result are acceptable across the whole range. Trial the smallest and largest commercial formats and do not assume one successful sample proves every intermediate pack.
